Seatrade Maritime: Cosco eyes logistics centre in Singapore’s Tuas Port
PSA Singapore and Cosco ink Memorandum of Understanding to explore warehousing and logistics at the new Tuas port.
PSA Singapore has inked a MoU with Goldlead Supply Chain Development (Southeast Asia), a joint venture between Cosco Shipping Holdings and Cosco Shipping International (Singapore).
The agreement will see the two parties explore collaboration on dedicated warehouse and logistics capabilities within the upcoming PSA Supply Chain Hub @ Tuas (PSCH) in Singapore.
PSA is moving beyond simply offering terminal operations as it looks to stay ahead of its competitors and broke ground on PSCH in October last year. The PSCH facility will span more than 2 million sq feet and be situated in the Free Trade Zone next to Tuas Port and is scheduled to start operations in 2027. The facility will integrate container freight stations, a regional distribution centre, cold store, and dangerous goods handling.
Zhou Ganfei, CEO of Goldlead Supply Chain Development (Southeast Asia), said, “Singapore’s strategic location and PSA’s state-of-the-art facilities make this collaboration a natural fit. PSCH’s seamless proximity to Tuas Port will enable us to serve our customers in Southeast Asia and beyond with greater speed and efficiency.”
The new agreement should see Cosco and PSA expand their relationship beyond terminal operations.
Seow Hwee, Head of Port Ecosystem for Southeast Asia, PSA, commented, “This collaboration reinforces PSA’s efforts to strengthen key nodes and to build resilient ecosystems, while leveraging Singapore’s strategic position as a global logistics and transhipment hub. It underscores our shared commitment to delivering integrated supply chain solutions, supporting the growing demand for regional cargo connectivity, and creating long-term value for our customers across Asia.”
