Splash247: GSBN alliance seeks faster eBL rollout in India

Hong Kong-based Global Shipping Business Network has formed a new alliance with ODeX and IQAX aimed at accelerating adoption of electronic bills of lading (eBLs) in India.

The partnership integrates IQAX eBL services directly into the ODeX platform through GSBN’s API infrastructure, allowing users to receive, transfer and surrender electronic bills of lading through existing workflows rather than navigating multiple separate systems.

The companies said fragmentation between competing digital platforms has remained one of the biggest barriers to widespread eBL adoption across the shipping industry.

“One of the biggest challenges to scaling eBL today is the major fragmentation across systems and platforms,” said Bertrand Chen, CEO of GSBN.

“By integrating with ODeX and enabling IQAX eBL within existing workflows, we are reducing complexity for users and making eBL easier to adopt at scale across the complete trade ecosystem,” Chen said.

The integration has already supported what the companies described as the first live Hapag-Lloyd shipment using the system on a route from Mundra in India to Chicago in the US for Transmarinus Inc.
