Splash247: Nexcade raises $6m to automate freight forwarding with AI
Published by Splash247
London-based freight technology startup Nexcade has raised $6m in seed funding to expand its artificial intelligence platform for freight forwarders as the logistics industry accelerates investment in workflow automation.
The funding round was led by Project A Ventures, with participation from Connect Ventures, MMC Ventures and Entropy Industrial Capital. Angel investors from companies including Vanguard Logistics, n8n, Altana, Sedna, UiPath and Cleo also took part.
Founded by former Sedna chief operating officer Dan Bailey and former Palantir technical lead Tasho Kjosev, Nexcade develops AI agents designed to automate operational tasks traditionally handled by freight forwarding teams.
Its software processes customer emails, attachments and spreadsheets to prepare freight quotations, procure rates, enter shipment orders and support customer communications while leaving final decisions with human operators.
The company said it will use the new funding to expand its product offering, grow its team and increase its presence across the UK, Europe and the US.
Alongside the funding announcement, Nexcade unveiled Atlas, a data analytics tool that analyses communication flows to identify operational bottlenecks and highlight where AI can have the biggest impact on freight forwarding businesses.
Dan Bailey, chief executive officer and co-founder of Nexcade, said the market had shifted rapidly from experimenting with AI to actively deploying it.
“Our AI agents are built for specific forwarding jobs. Each agent understands the shipment context, has the tools it needs, and can be tuned to how each customer works. That helps teams respond faster, protect margin and win more business,” he said.
Nexcade emerged from stealth in late 2025 and said it is now working with customers including XPO, Zencargo, Cardinal Global Logistics and CargoTrans. The company added that annual recurring revenue has more than tripled since the start of this year as customers expanded deployments across additional business units.
