Seatrade-Maritime: Yangzijiang Maritime expands fleet with 24 newbuilding orders

Yangzijiang Maritime Development has secured firm contracts for 24 new vessels to be built at multiple Chinese shipyards, with deliveries scheduled across 2028‑2030.

The 24‑vessel newbuilding programme covers five distinct ship types, comprising six bulk carriers of approximately 64,500 dwt slated for hand‑over in 2029‑2030, six product‑oil and chemical tankers of 49,800 dwt to be delivered from 2028 through 2030, four stainless‑steel chemical tankers of around 28,000 dwt and another four stainless‑steel chemical tankers of 29,000dwt both due in 2028‑2029, alongside four 319,000 dwt VLCC oil tankers with delivery timelines set for 2029‑2030.

Beyond the firm 24 orders, the group has secured option rights to construct an additional 16 vessels.

Upon incorporation of these latest firm orders and outstanding options, Yangzijiang Maritime’s overall newbuilding portfolio will total 98 vessels, including seven completed newbuilds with one unit already handed over to a buyer, 75 firm‑order vessels currently under construction.
