Hapag Lloyd: Reopening of Bookings to Upper Gulf Locations
Strait of HormuzLiner ServicesMiddle East and Indian Subcontinent
We are pleased to inform you that bookings to and from the Upper Gulf are now available again through third-party feeder services. This setup enables connectivity for cargo movements involving Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (Dammam), Qatar, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates, without transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
What this means for you:
- Flexible routing via Sharjah as a transshipment port into the Upper Gulf
- Support for dry, reefer, and special cargo (in-gauge only)
Bonded movements between Sharjah (transshipment port) and Khorfakkan are connected to ports in Oman and India.
Operational notes:
- Feeder rotations do not operate on a fixed weekly schedule and remain subject to transit safety conditions in the region
- Lead time for bonded transport between Sharjah and Khorfakkan is approximately 5 days
- Shipments to and from the United Arab Emirates will be handled via Sharjah using bonded trucking

In addition to third-party feeder services, our Carrier’s Haulage solutions via Jeddah remain available, as previously announced on March 27, 2026.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact our customer service team at your location who will be happy to guide you based on your individual situation.
