PAKISTAN LOGISTICS UPDATE
Dear Valued Customers and Partners,
We would like to inform you that the situation in the Middle East continues to remain tense and uncertain.
We have now received formal confirmation that major regional carriers, including EK, QR, and EY, have suspended operations. Over the weekend, airlines have also withdrawn previously agreed rate structures and backed out from allocations. The suspension of these key carriers represents a significant capacity loss for exports/imports from/to Pakistan, and we anticipate major air cargo acceptance challenges early next week, along with severe space constraints and continued rate volatility.
On the ocean freight side, the situation has also escalated. Shipping lines have announced war risk surcharges over the weekend, and all bookings are now strictly subject to vessel operations and routing feasibility. Transit times, schedule integrity, and equipment positioning remain uncertain.
Additionally, there have been major demonstrations today, particularly around the US Embassy area in Karachi, located in close proximity to Karachi Port. Due to security concerns, the transportation association has halted all transportation activities across the city effective immediately and until further notice. This is expected to impact container movement and port connectivity.
The overall situation remains fluid. We expect to have better operational clarity tomorrow morning as further updates are received from carriers, port authorities, and local associations.
