Seatrade-Maritime: Cosco Shipping Bulk launches first container service

Even though Cosco Shipping Group operates the world’s fourth largest container line its bulk shipping business has also made a move into boxes.

Cosco Shipping Bulk has launched its first dedicated container liner service, marking what it sees as a strategic milestone as the company expands beyond traditional bulk shipping into integrated container transport.

The vessel Guo Yun Hai successfully berthed at Phase II Terminal of Nansha Port Area, Guangzhou Port, inaugurating the new direct multi-purpose container route connecting South China’s key hub with North Africa.

This new service creates a reliable, high-speed maritime corridor linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to fast-growing markets across North Africa, strengthening trade connectivity and logistics efficiency between Asia and the region.

Port rotation is Qingdao – Incheon – Shanghai – Ningbo – Nansha – Suez Canal – Port Said West – Benghazi – Misrata – Valencia.

The service provides direct connections between Nansha and Port Said (Egypt), Benghazi and Misrata (Libya). The shortest voyage from Nansha to North Africa takes only 21 days, offering the fastest delivery time from Nansha to Libya currently available in the market and significantly improving shipping efficiency.

Featuring strong cargo adaptability and flexibility, it supports the transportation of dangerous goods containers such as new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and energy storage containers, and is equipped with 220 reefer plugs to meet diverse export cargo demands, with core advantages of being economical, efficient and reliable.
