CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has inked a deal with CU Lines in Guangzhou to construct four 6,400 teu medium-sized container ships.

This renewed collaboration further solidifies Huangpu Wenchong’s market prestige and technological prowess, standing as a key milestone in deepening bilateral strategic cooperation and jointly tapping new growth opportunities across the global shipping sector, stated Huangpu Wenchong.

Powered by a conventional fuel propulsion system, the 6,400 teu container ships feature an overall length of 240 metres, a molded beam of 42.8 metres, and a deadweight of around 80,310 tons. Designed with a nominal container capacity of 6,406 teu, the vessels are fitted with 1,150 refrigerated container slots.

Incorporating a range of green and energy-efficient design technologies, the ships boast superior economic and environmental performance.

Optimised for deployment on major intra-Asia regional routes as well as medium-to-long liner services covering the US West Coast, the Red Sea, East Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, this vessel type has emerged as a mainstream and market-preferred design.

Huangpu Wenchong has previously built and delivered four 1,900 teu and two 2,700 teu container ships for CU Lines, which now serve as key tonnage in the liner’s operating fleet.
