Seatrade-Maritime: DSIC bags $1.31bn container ship order

China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) has announced a shipbuilding agreement for twelve 9,200 teu container ships was signed by its wholly-owned subsidiary Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC).

The order was described as coming from  a prominent international shipowner whose identity has not been disclosed.

The total contract value is approximately RMB9 billion ($1.31 billion), representing an average of RMB750 million per vessel. Deliveries are scheduled to take place in phases from 2028 through 2030.

Developed by DSIC in response to global trends in green marine technology and the latest international environmental regulations, this new generation medium-sized container vessel features world-leading performance and excels in overall efficiency, environmental performance, and operational reliability compared with similar vessels.

CSSC stated that the project will fully leverage DSIC’s core advantages in construction efficiency, accelerate product structure upgrading, and further strengthen its track record and brand influence in the container ship sector.

Earlier this month, DSIC unveiled several new orders, mainly consisting of very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and product tankers.
