Seatrade Maritime: Gram Car Carriers adds Orca AI to all 22 PCTCs

Orca AI announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with Gram Car Carriers to roll out its AI-backed platform across the pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) operator’s fleet.

The latest deal expands and existing relationship between Orca AI and MSC Group, adding Gram Car Carriers’ 22 PCTCs to more than 1,300 vessels booked to the system.

Orca AI said the the agreement is structured as a “collaborative alliance” rather than a traditional supplier contract, with joint business reviews, shared learnings and co-development of improvements.

The ultimate goal of the agreement is to measurably reduce incidents, near-misses and operational inefficiencies. Gram Car Carriers will deploy Orca AI’s SeaPod digital lookout onboard, along with its FleetView analytics dashboard ashore. SeaPod is an AI-based maritime navigation assistant that supports navigator situational awareness using cameras and thermal cameras. With FleetView, shore-based operators can analyse real-time video from vessels to support decision making, monitor safety, and benchmark performance.

A long-term roll out plan at Gram Car Carriers will include establishing its first standardised AI safety model.

“At Gram Car Carriers, safety is a deeply funded part of our culture, and improved navigational safety is a core focus area,” said Børre Mathisen, COO at GCC. “Orca AI provides the visibility and analytical foundation to continuously raise standards, empowering our crew and shore teams with accurate, real-time information.”

Yarden Gross, CEO and Co-founder of Orca AI, said: “Our collaboration with Gram Car Carriers reinforces their leadership in adopting digital solutions that directly improve navigational safety and operational transparency… This marks a pivotal moment for digital safety for the whole vehicle carrier segment.”
