Seatrade Maritime: Ningbo Ocean Shipping expands with Japan office

Ningbo Ocean Shipping is expanding footprint in Japan via collaboration with local partner.

Ningbo Ocean Shipping (Japan) has been jointly established by the company and Japan’s Nitto Co., Ltd. The establishment of the new unit represents a key step in the company’s high-quality advancement of its internationalisation strategy.

It also serves as a practice in implementing the “dual first-class” construction of Zhejiang Seaport and improving the overseas logistics network layout. This milestone signifies the transition of the bilateral cooperation from agency services to in-depth collaboration, injecting new momentum into Sino-Japanese shipping cooperation.

Tao Chengbo, Chairman of Zhejiang Seaport Group and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group, emphasized that Ningbo Ocean Shipping should further expand its scope of business cooperation, adopt a global perspective, promote regular calls of relevant shipping lines at Ningbo-Zhoushan port, continuously enhance service levels, broaden and extend overseas logistics channels.

Ningbo Ocean Shipping (Japan) will focus on deepening the Japanese market and serving China-Japan economic and trade relations. By leveraging the core hub advantages of Ningbo Zhoushan port and the local resource strengths of Nitto Co., Ltd., the company aims to efficiently integrate ship agency and freight forwarding services.

The company plans to actively expand its transshipment business from Japan to regions such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East, striving to establish Ningbo Ocean Shipping’s service brand as a leading regional logistics benchmark in Asia.

Currently, the company operates 10 container ships on the Japan routes, with services covering five major Japanese ports—Osaka, Kobe, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Yokohama—as well as other ports including Moji, Hakata, Shimizu, Hiroshima, and Naha.
