Seatrade Maritime: Venergy Maritime exercises boxship options at Huangpu Wenchong
CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding held a signing ceremony in Shanghai with Greek shipping company Venergy Maritime Limited for the construction of two 1,900 teu boxships.
The deal marked the finalisation of Venergy’s first shipbuilding order in China, which includes a total of four “Honghu”-type container ships, representing a step forward in the cooperation between China and Greece in the high-end shipbuilding sector
Previously, the two parties had signed an order for the first two 1,900 teu feeder container vessels of the “Honghu” in December 2025.
The ”Honghu” 1,900 teu feeder container ship design was independently developed by Huangpu Wenchong, has established itself globally with 58 ships ordered cumulatively. The delivered vessels have successfully operated across major shipping routes worldwide.
Designed in accordance with principles of sustainability, intelligence, and operational efficiency, the vessel features optimised hydrodynamic hull lines, structural weight reduction, and other technological advancements, resulting in a significant enhancement of cargo capacity and operational cost-efficiency. It is specifically tailored for feeder shipping operations characterised by multiple port calls and high-frequency services, aligning perfectly with the global shipping industry’s trends toward low-carbon and intelligent development.
