A new memorandum was signed during the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Rome focusing on port reconstruction, the creation of “smart” port systems, and the integration of Ukrainian ports into the European TEN-T network.

During the International Conference in Rome, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) and the Ukrainian Consortium for Reconstruction (UCR) signed a memorandum on strategic partnership for the restoration and development of port infrastructure.

The memorandum provides for the following areas of cooperation: the implementation of international standards and advanced technologies, the implementation of joint infrastructure projects, the creation of partnerships between Ukrainian and Italian ports, financial and technical partnerships, the development of innovative environmental transport solutions, consultations on the improvement and adaptation of Ukrainian maritime legislation in accordance with EU, IMO and UNCTAD standards, integration of Ukrainian ports into the European transport network TEN-T, and attraction of financing from the EIB, EBRD, World Bank and European funds.

Among the key benefits of the agreement listed by the USPA are the involvement of leading Italian and European companies in the modernization of ports, the automation of logistics processes, as well as the creation of partnerships between Ukrainian and European ports.

“We appreciate the opportunity to combine Ukrainian experience in the port sector with European technologies and financial instruments. This partnership opens up new opportunities for the modernization of our port infrastructure and further integration into the European logistics space. I am confident that this format of cooperation will become an effective tool for the restoration and development of the industry,” said Oleksandr Semyrga, the head of the USPA.
