by Shipping Telegraph
The Evergreen containership Ever Lunar experienced the loss overboard of approximately 50 containers whilst at anchor.
The claims specialist WK Webster has received reports that the containership Ever Lunar with IMO 9629093 experienced the loss overboard of approximately 50 containers whilst at anchor at Callao anchorage, Peru, on August 1.
It is reported that the subject containers were lost overboard from the aft section of the vessel as a consequence of severe rolling of the vessel resulting from unexpected wave conditions in the area, according to WK Webster.
The vessel has currently resumed its voyage towards its next port of call, Buenaventura, Colombia.
“We understand that containers found floating have been recovered to a designated area to be retrieved whilst other containers may be retrieved by specialist recovery companies,” the claims specialist said in its statement on August 1.
WK Webster warns now that possible recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty. “We have cargo surveyors on hand to establish the extent of damage to cargo, if necessary,” it added.
The 103891-dwt vessel Ever Lunar is a container ship (2015-built) flagged in Taiwan, and its registered owner is Evergreen Marine Corp.
Last month, the Evergreen containership Ever Feat, experienced a container stack collapse whilst navigating off Rio Grande, Brazil, according to a report from WK Webster.
The vessel, en route from Navegantes, had a shift of cargo on July 28.
The 130573-dwt vessel Ever Feat is a modern container ship (2021-built) flagged in Liberia and its registered owner is Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan) Ltd (EVERGREEN LINE).
