Shippingtelegraph: Port of Aarhus board confirms CEO resignation

Thomas Haber Borch is stepping down from his position as chief executive officer with immediate effect, in accordance with a press release issued by Aarhus Havn.

The decision follows a “mutual agreement” between the board of directors and the outgoing chief executive, reads the Port of Aarhus statement. He is resigning after almost 5 and a half years in the position, effective December 15, 2025.

“The board of directors acknowledges the great effort that Thomas Haber Borch has made for the Port of Aarhus through difficult years with the corona lockdown, supply crisis in world trade and a difficult process regarding the proposed expansion of the Outer Harbour. However, the board has decided that a different profile is needed to lead the Port of Aarhus’s further development in the future. As chairman of the board, I would like to thank Thomas for his great work for the port’s employees, customers and partners,” said board chairman Susanne Juhl.

Thomas Haber Borch, who took over as CEO on July 1, 2020, stated: “I have been very happy with my years as CEO of the Port of Aarhus, where the port has gained market share and broken new revenue records. This has not been possible without a trusting interaction with customers and business partners and support from skilled employees, whose commitment and competence have been crucial to the results we have created together. I look forward to new opportunities and take many good experiences with me.”

Until the appointment of a new CEO, the board states that it will appoint an interim CEO, which is expected to be announced within a few days. As it is reported, the Port of Aarhus is now initiating a recruitment process to find a new CEO.

The process is expected to be completed in the first half of the new year.
