by Shipping Telegraph
A Russian drone attack in the Odesa region ignited a fire at a fuel and energy infrastructure facility, leaving one person injured.
The drone strikes triggered a large-scale fire at a fuel and energy facility.
“A large-scale fire broke out at a fuel and energy infrastructure facility. According to preliminary information, one person was injured,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said in a statement.
According to the State Emergency Service, 54 rescuers and 16 units were involved in the emergency response. A fire train from Ukrzaliznytsia and a local fire brigade also assisted in extinguishing the blaze.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Russia’s latest strikes “demonstrative strikes” that underscore the need for new sanctions and tariffs against Moscow until diplomacy is fully effective.
“Last night, a drone strike on Okhtyrka in the Sumy region injured 14 people. A family with wounded children – 5 months, 4 years, and 6 years old – sought assistance after the attack. In Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, a glide bomb strike damaged five apartment buildings, and at least three people still remain under the rubble. The rescue operation continues. There was also a treacherous strike on a gas distribution station in the Odesa region. Shelling also targeted the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. In total, more than 60 drones and a ballistic missile were used,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post on X.
He stressed that these are demonstrative strikes that “that only confirm the need to put pressure on Moscow, the need to impose new sanctions and tariffs until diplomacy is fully effective.”
Zelenskyy thanked all partners who are helping to stop the Russian war.
“Together with the United States, Europe, and all those who seek peace, we are working every day to guarantee security. We need strong security guarantees to ensure a truly reliable and lasting peace,” he added.
