Blackdot Solutions has integrated Lloyd’s List Intelligence maritime data into its Videris investigation platform, giving sanctions and financial crime investigators a single environment for tracing vessels, ownership structures and wider corporate networks.

The integration brings vessel tracking, ownership information and maritime risk indicators into Videris alongside corporate records, adverse media, publicly available social media and dark web content.

Blackdot says the aim is to reduce the time investigators spend moving between systems and manually reconciling information.

The move comes as sanctions enforcement intensifies and vessels involved in high-risk trades employ increasingly sophisticated methods to obscure their identity and activity, including AIS manipulation, fraudulent identities, flag hopping and opaque corporate structures.

“In financial crime and sanctions investigations, the risk rarely sits with the vessel itself – it lies in the ownership structures, individuals and networks behind it,” said Blackdot chief executive Stuart Clarke.

He said integrating maritime data directly into Videris should make it easier to identify and evidence links between vessels and the entities controlling or supporting them.
