Splash247: Diana Shipping re-fixes ultramax to Cargill at lower rate
New York-listed Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has secured a fresh charter deal with Cargill for one of its ultramaxes, albeit at a slightly reduced rate compared to its previous contract.
The Semiramis Paliou-led company has fixed the 60,508 dwt DSI Pegasus until at least May 20 next year at $14,250 per day. The charter includes a 4.75% commission to third parties.
Cargill had been paying $1,000 more for the same vessel under a previous contract that started last September.
The new charter runs from August 15, and Cargill has options to extend the contract for two more months.
Over the minimum period of the agreement, Diana Shipping said it expects to generate about $3.92m in revenue.
The fixture marks the third Diana ultramax contracted to Cargill in recent months. The DSI Polaris was fixed at $12,500 per day, while the DSI Phoenix went out at $13,500.
