Splash247: Freightos expands into ocean freight

Freightos has expanded its digital freight platform from air to sea, rolling out an integrated pricing, quoting, and booking system for ocean freight forwarders.

The Nasdaq-listed logistics technology firm said its new WebCargo Rate & Quote Ocean platform marks a major step in unifying air and ocean freight management under a single digital system.

Already a market leader in air cargo rate automation, Freightos said the new product allows freight forwarders to manage rates, generate quotes, and book shipments with major ocean carriers through one interface — eliminating the long-standing divide between air and sea pricing tools.

During its beta phase, the platform processed thousands of ocean freight quotes with several carriers and LCL consolidators. Early adopters reported quote times up to 75% faster, cutting what was previously a time-consuming manual process involving multiple systems and spreadsheets.

“Forwarders have long told us that ocean freight is the missing link in digital rate management,” said Freightos CEO Zvi Schreiber. “Our next-generation Rate & Quote Ocean bridges the gap between dramatically different models of freight pricing. By bringing air and ocean together on one platform, we’re helping forwarders simplify operations, win more business, and deliver faster for their customers.”

The move comes as freight forwarders and shippers increasingly seek faster and more reliable rate management amid shifting trade flows and volatile pricing cycles. Freightos said its WebCargo network already handles more than 1.6m transactions annually and processes several times as many air cargo quotes.

By extending that capability to ocean freight, Freightos said it aims to streamline workflows across transport modes, allowing forwarders to centralize rate data, booking tools, and cost inputs — including local charges and trucking — within one connected system.

The company noted the new platform integrates with major transport management systems (TMS), enabling forwarders to maintain a consistent and automated process from rate search to booking confirmation.

Freightos’ expansion also underscores the growing digitalisation push in logistics, as forwarders adopt unified systems to manage pricing across multiple carriers and cargo types. Schreiber said the platform’s integrated approach would help users deliver “quick, accurate and consistent” quotes across both air and ocean freight, helping shippers better navigate ongoing global trade disruptions.
