Splash247: Fujairah gets direct Abu Dhabi rail link

AD Ports Group and Etihad Rail Freight have launched a direct rail service linking Fujairah Terminals in the UAE with the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD).

Containers arriving at Fujairah can now move directly by rail to ICAD, where customs inspection, clearance and cargo release can be completed, reducing the need for additional road transport and handling between the port and customers in Abu Dhabi.

ICAD has also been assigned its own UN location code, AECAD, allowing shipping lines, freight forwarders and cargo owners to book shipments directly to the industrial hub as their destination and clearance point.

The service combines dedicated rail freight with customs and inspection facilities at ICAD and is aimed at importers, exporters, manufacturers and logistics operators moving cargo between the UAE’s east coast and Abu Dhabi’s main industrial areas.

Fujairah Terminals is operated by AD Ports Group and handles containers, general cargo and ro-ro traffic.
