Brazil’s waterways regulator has postponed a public hearing covering the planned concession of the principal container and general cargo terminal at the Port of Itajaí.

The hearing on the ITJ01 lease will now take place virtually on August 6, one week later than originally scheduled.

The process will gather industry feedback on the technical and legal documents that will underpin the tender for the terminal area.

ITJ01 is designated for the handling and storage of containers and general cargo at the southern Brazilian port.

The consultation forms part of the federal government’s effort to return Itajaí to a long-term private operating model after an extended period of uncertainty over the port’s container operations.

The tender terms will determine the investment obligations, operating conditions and concession structure for one of southern Brazil’s established container gateways.

Interested parties must register by August 5 to speak during the hearing. Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency said the remainder of the consultation terms are unchanged.
