Splash247: Justine Jarvinen named chair of Port Authority of New South Wales

Justine Jarvinen has been appointed chair of the Port Authority of New South Wales.

Jarvinen joined the authority’s board as a director in April 2022 and brings more than 28 years of experience across the energy, finance, education and non-profit sectors.

Her career has included technical, commercial, strategic, management, advisory and governance roles with Exxon, Shell, Caltex, JBWere and AGL Energy.

The Port Authority is responsible for the safe movement of commercial shipping across Sydney Harbour, Port Botany, Newcastle Harbour, Port Kembla, Eden and Yamba.

It also oversees pilotage, vessel traffic services, marine safety, security and environmental management across the state’s working ports.

Jarvinen takes the chair as the authority progresses its strategic programme covering operational efficiency, infrastructure, maritime safety and the transition towards lower-emission port operations.
