Splash247: Lianson Fleet sheds 2013-built anchor handler

Malaysia’s Lianson Fleet Group (LFG), formerly known as Icon Offshore, has sold one of its anchor handlers for RM28.13m ($6.68m).

The sale of the vessel is in line with the company’s ongoing fleet rejuvenation and business diversification strategy.

The company is selling its 2013-built Malaysian-flagged DP-1 anchor handling and supply tug vessel, Icon Samudera, to Vietnam-based Asia Investment and Asset Management Joint Stock Company. The transaction is expected to be completed by October 2025.

Lianson stated that the vessel price was based on a willing-buyer and willing-seller basis, and that it reflects market values of similar vessels. Proceeds from the sale will be used for general corporate purposes and to support future growth initiatives.

“This also aligns with the company’s rebranding and long-term strategy to diversify from a pure-play OSV player into other vessel asset classes, supporting our pivot towards new markets and strengthening our long-term growth and operational flexibility,” the company explained.

Last month, Lianson bought a 2012-built supramax bulk carrier, moving beyond its traditional OSV base. The company purchased the 56,625 dwt Moana Baq from LT Princess Shipping of Hong Kong for $13.25m.
