Splash247: Lloyd’s Register launches route-aware stowage tool

Lloyd’s Register has launched a containership application designed to recalculate stowage limits when weather, routing or voyage plans change.

RouteFlex applies metocean-based factors to individual voyage legs, allowing operators to assess container stacks against the expected conditions rather than using a single worst-case assumption for an entire route.

The software can reassess existing arrangements after a diversion and split complex voyages into separately optimised legs. LR said the approach could release additional cargo capacity while retaining required safety margins.

RouteFlex can operate as a standalone application, through LR’s LashRightUX software or within approved third-party lashing platforms. Both online and offline operation are supported.

LR has not identified launch customers, pricing or measured capacity gains from operational deployments.
