Splash247: Lohmann exits container shipping with sale of final feeder pair to Lila Global
Published by Splash247
German shipowner Hermann Lohmann Bereederung has sold its last two container vessels, the 1,368 teu ice-class sister ships Marina L and Theodor, to Dubai-based Lila Global, according to Alphaliner.
The sale marks Lohmann’s complete exit from the container shipping sector, leaving the company with a fleet focused solely on multipurpose tonnage. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Marina L is currently chartered to CMA CGM and deployed in the Mediterranean under a contract running until the fourth quarter of 2026. Sister vessel Theodor is employed by X-Press Feeders in the Americas, also through the fourth quarter of 2026.
Built to the popular ‘Weihai 1300’ design, the Marina L was delivered in 2009 by China’s Shandong New SHI shipyard as the OM Lenitatis for Reederei O. Marten. The Theodor was built in 2006 at Weihai Shipyard as the Langeness for Briese Schiffahrt.
According to Alphaliner, Lohmann has divested all of its cellular tonnage over the past 18 months, including sister ships Victoria L and Alexander L, as well as the 1,118 teu Astrid L.
For Lila Global, which is linked to the ship-recycling giant GMS, the acquisition expands its small but growing portfolio of container vessels, which already includes the 1,209 teu Lila Haren.
