German tonnage provider Peter Döhle Schiffahrts is being linked to another two containership newbuildings at Hudong-Zhonghua, extending one of the busiest boxship ordering runs among Germany’s independent owners.

Shipbuilding sources reported the Hamburg outfit has returned to the CSSC yard for a fresh 14,000 teu two-ship contract, bringing its series at the yard to a total of six units.

The move would deepen a relationship established with a four-ship 14,000 teu series contracted in 2024, Döhle’s first boxship newbuilding programme in almost nine years.

The first ship from that series was delivered in May this year, five months ahead of schedule. The 335 m vessel has a methanol-ready main engine, shaft generator and design provisions for alternative fuels. Deliveries of the latest pair are scheduled for August and October 2028.

Döhle has been adding tonnage across several size classes. In April, the company booked two 3,100 teu feeders at Chengxi Shipyard for around $48m each, with delivery in 2029. That followed four 2,900 teu feedermaxes at Huangpu Wenchong for late 2027 and 2028 delivery.

The owner has also been linked to as many as five 8,400 teu LNG dual-fuel ships at Guangzhou Shipyard International, priced at around $121m each.
