Splash247: Port Houston clears Jacintoport ship dock conversion

The Port of Houston Authority has approved a marine construction permit allowing Houston Jacintoport, LLC to convert an existing barge dock into a ship dock.

The conversion is intended to increase the volume of cement moving through the terminal, giving the facility greater capability to handle cargo directly from ships rather than relying on its existing barge berth.

The permit was approved by the Port Commission at its August meeting.

Port Houston did not disclose the investment involved or a construction timetable for the project.
