Splash247: SSA Marine readies Guaymas terminal for launch with four new cranes

SSA Marine Mexico has taken delivery of four container cranes at its new terminal at the Port of Guaymas in Mexico as the operator prepares to start operations in the coming weeks.

The equipment comprises two super post-panamax ship-to-shore cranes and two electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes, strengthening both quayside and yard handling capability at the new facility.

The STS cranes have an outreach of around 62 metres and can lift 65 tonnes under spreader.

SSA Marine said the terminal will handle containers, general cargo and automobiles, expanding the group’s operations in northwest Mexico. The equipment follows the award of the terminal concession several months ago and represents one of the final steps towards bringing the facility into service.
