Splash247: Yilport turns crane data into double-digit productivity gain

Yilport has increased rubber-tyred gantry crane productivity at its Gebze terminal in Turkey by 21% following the deployment of Kaleris optimisation software.

The improvement was measured through moves per hour during the first three months of operating Kaleris’ RTG Optimization system across the terminal’s 31-crane fleet.

The software continuously assesses vessel, truck and yard demand and recommends where individual cranes should be deployed. It is designed to balance workloads, reduce idle time and limit non-productive travel rather than require the terminal to add equipment.

Gebze’s dispatchers retain control of crane assignments but receive continuously updated recommendations based on operating demand. The platform can also manage mixed fleets, including remotely operated RTGs with different capabilities.

The optimiser sits alongside the Kaleris N4 terminal operating system already used by Yilport. Gebze has electrified RTGs and optical character-recognition systems integrated with N4.

Yilport now plans to deploy the software at Liscont and Leixões in Portugal and Gävle in Sweden. The Swedish and Portuguese installations will include remotely controlled automated RTGs.
