URGENT UPDATE REGIONAL DISRUPTIONS 03 – IMPACTING MIDDLE EAST SHIPMENTS Both MSC and Ocean Network Express (ONE) have issued advisories

Dear Valued Partner, Valued Customer and overal Valued Friend,

Hope you are well and would like to apologize for another update. We would like to keep as brief and concise as we can. Both MSC and Ocean Network Express (ONE) have issued advisories on 4 March 2026 confirming significant operational disruptions due to the escalating security situation in the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

1. MSC – Customer Advisory Update

MSC has issued an End of Voyage Declaration for all shipments currently under their custody and destined for ports in the Arabian Gulf, due to the ongoing security situation in the Middle East.

Affected Destinations

UAE (Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, UAQ, RAK), Qatar (Hamad), Saudi Arabia (Dammam, Jubail, Riyadh Dry Port), Kuwait (Shuwaikh, Shuaiba), Bahrain, Oman (Sohar, Salalah), Iraq (Umm Qasr).

Operational Impact

  • All cargo currently en route will be diverted to the next safe port of discharge. 
  • Cargo will be placed at customers’ disposal at the diverted port.
  • All discharge‑related costs (handling, storage, ancillary charges) are for the cargo owner’s account as per MSC Bill of Lading terms.  Surcharge Applied Mandatory deviation surcharge: USD 800 per container. 

Forwarding to a New Destination

If you require onward movement from the safe port, MSC will require a new transport booking to be arranged via the usual channels. Please reach out to us or to our regional head quarters in Dubai UAE Cargocare if you need us to arrange recovery or rebooking for your cargo.

2. ONE (Ocean Network Express) – Customer Advisory Update

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced additional operational measures following severe disruptions caused by security risks in the Strait of Hormuz. Vessels cannot safely transit the area, resulting in major schedule interruptions..pdf)

Operational Actions

  • ONE will discharge all affected containers at a nearby safe port, subject to operational feasibility.
  • ONE now requires customers to confirm either:

1: Change of Destination (COD)

2: Ship back the cargo to origin

* Both options are subject to feasibility and additional pricing

Emergency Surcharge (EMS)(Applicable for COD and Voyage Termination) 

Effective from 4 March 2026, applying to all shipments to/from: Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia (Dammam).

Rates per container:

20’ Dry: USD 1,200

40’/45’ Dry/HC: USD 2,400

20’ Reefer/Special/Haz: USD 2,200

40’ Reefer/Special/Haz: USD 3,400

Voyage Termination

If COD or shipback cannot be agreed, ONE may terminate the voyage at the safe port.

  • The same EMS charges apply.
  • All local costs (detention, demurrage, storage, handling) will be borne by the cargo owner.

Please advise us of your preferred instruction (COD, shipback, or local recovery), and we will coordinate with ONE accordingly.
