Seatrade-Maritime: Chancay Port container volumes surge over 70% in H1

Chancay Port, operated by Cosco Shipping in Peru, registered strong operational growth in the first half of 2026.
The port recorded a total container throughput of 200,000 teu in H1 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 70.94%.
Its bulk and general cargo throughput reached 987,000 tons, rising 41.2% compared with the same period last year, demonstrating rapidly expanding market capacity.
The port witnessed a surge in vessel call volume across all ship types during the six-month period. It hosted 137 container vessel calls, up 35.64% year on year, alongside 50 bulk and general cargo vessel calls with a year-on-year growth of 28.2%.
Notable was ro-ro shipping business growth, with 14 ro-ro vessel calls recorded, marking a sharp year-on-year increase of 133% and reflecting booming cross-border vehicle and equipment transportation demand.
Currently, Chancay port service fully covers major trade markets including Asia, the West Coast of South America, Central America and Panama hub ports. Its core mainline routes primarily connect key Chinese coastal ports with Peru’s core trading areas.
