Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has launched a new digital platform designed to simplify access to its technical rules, guidance and classification publications as classification societies continue to expand their digital services.

Named NEURON, the platform provides a single searchable hub for IRClass Rules, classification notes, guidelines and other technical publications, allowing users to find regulatory and engineering information without navigating multiple documents.

The platform is aimed at shipowners, operators, shipyards, naval architects, equipment manufacturers, surveyors and regulators, supporting activities ranging from vessel design and construction to surveys, operations and regulatory compliance.

According to IRS, NEURON has been developed to improve access to technical knowledge and help users locate information more quickly, supporting engineering decisions and reducing time spent searching through documentation.

H. V. Ramesh, head of technical at Indian Register of Shipping, said the platform was designed to improve productivity while making technical guidance easier to access.

“NEURON provides our stakeholders with a smart, user-friendly platform to access IRClass publications efficiently, improving productivity and supporting better technical decisions,” he said.

The launch forms part of IRS’s wider digitalisation strategy, with classification societies increasingly investing in online platforms, digital survey tools and data-driven services to complement their traditional classification activities.
